give them time...

  • I was in the Abu Dhabi during the first gulf war... Abu Dhabi ended up with a lot of Kuwaitis who where fleeing. A week into their arrival and the emaratis began to despise them. The common grievance was that the Kuwaitis ended up getting drunk, chasing women, picking up fights and plain arrogance.. most Kuwaitis there acted as if they were God's gift to humanity. Things reached a point where the normally hospitable emaratis began to make their displeasure known in obvious ways... that said.. over the course of the last few years, I feel the Kuwaiti has changed.. and changed for the good. The current generation's travels, education and the internet has exposed them to realities which the previous generation just did not have access to.
