Kuwait's clubbing dress code?

• Am wondering about Kuwait's clubbing dress code. I have read in a mag something that bothered me:
  "Although Kuwait's clubbing dress code is fairly casual, be sure that you gain entrance by wearing trousers, shoes and a collared shirt otherwise you may find yourself on the outside looking in!"
  
  Now, my clothes aren't that much revealing however I don't feel comfortable going clubbing wearing what is said above, especially in this weather.
  
  Any ideas if it is accurate? should I wear as described above?

  That's for men. Women can pretty much wear what they want to clubs, although depending which part of town you go to, I would always take a pashmina with you just to cover up if you find yourself out on the street afterwards, looking for a cab.

  As a resident of Kuwait I can confirm that there is no such thing as a night-club in Kuwait.

  "Clubbing" or any idea of having fun is reduced to going to some rich brat's house and drinking liqueur or/and bad quality home made wine (that semlls like toxic waste) till you drop and consuming hashish, heroin and other drugs because it's "cool" and they all want to be like Americans. This is the only thing they understand from the Western culture. I went to a couple of such parties, sitting there by myself and watching, until I realized that it's the same everywhere; then I stopped socializing and I ended up completely isolated, because they're just too weird and vicious. I wouldn't recommend getting too close to the natives, because once you get to know the better, you won't like them anymore and you'll see the hypocrisy of this society. Besides, if they get caught, it won't mater, b/c they have "wasta", but they will blame it on you, the "depraved" Westerner, even if you have nothing to do...There is no fun in Kuwait whatsoever!

  It depends on what kind of fun you wanna have? Kuwait is an freedon country....you can do whatever you like....wear what you like....they have alot of clubs...shopping malls...etc....they have everything...they are not in a dessert...Kuwai is one of the moderest gulf country....but you have to be careful in your attitude and behavior as you are in your coutry....for example: drunk people will be punshid this is a universal...
  what else you think you wanna do....just practice life with dignity and respectful..

  I think when someone decided to go abroad...he has to understand the country culture and custom...not to look only for clubs...I would like to bring to oyu that Kuwait has freedom of religious practice, if you are looking for fun, relax, and comfortable then you can go to all around to understand their culture..go to mosques and see the building and how beutiful they are....go to souks, and other sandy traces of bygone bedouin days. I am pretty sure that you will enjoy staying there. You will never forget how beutiful Kuwait is....
  do not wonder if you see bad people...they are everywhere...do not get scared from what others said...

  LOL the idea of a club existing in Kuwait is just plain ludicrous, there is no such thing, there will never be a club in Kuwait for at least 100 years.
  
  The closest youll ever get to a club "like" experience is a healthy portion of some hallucinogenic at a private party in a villa somewhere.
  
  You can only purchase liquor from the embassy if it provides this service most dont however. The sale, purchase, consumption, transport of Liquor is a "serious" crime around here, and will either reward you with a uncomfortable experience at the local police station, ranging from beatings to deportation. Kuwait does not have any police brutality laws, if it did they are not enforced anyways. Though most foreigners are usually assisted by their embassy.
  
  Also most foreign embassies try to compensate for this by organizing social functions on embassy grounds. The US Embassy is infamous for its Wednesday "Happy Hours".
  
  However the life in Kuwait is easy, and comfortable, and relatively safe. It takes a little getting used too, and it will certainly take time to learn about the culture. But in the end youll either learn to deal with it, or leave of your own accord.

  Yes entertainment gets a totally new meaning in Q8. There are no clubs and nothing like that and nothing else. And honestly Mr. Mem (from above) who wants to visit all the time only mosques (1000 in this small country (how hypocrite)) and souks. Where is the beauty that you were talking about? Although some of the mosques are nice, people around are not.
  "New in Town" if you still can, cancel your trip to Kuwait cause Dating can be dangerous here between all this extra horny guys. It's for your good.

  sorry for the misunderstanding...
  
  It is completely safe not to wear that kind of cloths (parda as you called it) in fact you'll see that many kuwaiti girls wear short trousers (till the knee) and they show their hair (no vails) and some do. So, do not worry about this...casual cloths should be absolutly alright. I'll try to post some youtube links that show some of the Kuwaiti malls and how people are dressed.

  it's apparent that there's no consensus as to what the nightlife in kuwait is really like. while some people here claim that there aren't any bars or pubs around town, others say that you can actually party till you drop. reading all the comments posted here, it seems to me that kuwait is a country of double standards. it desperately tries to present itself as a conservative country, yet deep inside the heart of the city lies a lot of dirt. what with the booze and drugs that you can get at private parties. i would love to see kuwait to stick to what it advertises itself to be and completely shun those underground immoral acts.

  Night clubs!!!!!............you are having a laugh. You will encounter sleazy men wearing white gowns with a towel and rope around their heads and pretty much nothing else in those clubs!. You will have as much fun as sitting at home and staring at the ceiling.

  There is no such thing that comes even close to a club as we European or Americans are concerned. After you have seen the malls thats it! Kuwaitis are very family oriented and spend alot of time inside. Having fun for Kuwaitis is driving reckless and lingering around malls and trying to get cellphone numbers via bluetooth from females. If you want to have fun you will have to go to Dubai or Bahrain.

  As an American who has lived and worked in Kuwait (off and on) for the last 5 years I can tell you from experience that dance clubs DO exist in Kuwait.
  
  They "clubs" are usually ran by Philippines and serve food and drinks (non-alcoholic) - i have been to several of theses clubs where there's a dj and dancing and all.
  
  I am not sure how legal they are though.

  Been here almost 5 years!!!!!I’m in agreement that their are no clubs, like the ones back home @ The Lone Stare State, but as also stated there are Villa parties,( some really good) Filipino parties and Desert tent parties ( there thrown by the locals …..good times)
  True this is a Muslim country but people are people where ever you go good and bad, one thing for sure it helps to be an American, cant speak for anyone else, not a bad place for kids space is limited far as where they can play without the worry of cars, on the car situation that’s probably the most worrisome part of things the driving/drivers are really bad, have to see it to believe it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have met a lot of different people here Kuwaiti, Turkish, African, Lebanese, Iraqi, British, Scottish, the list goes on and on, one thing for sure they do like the western dress/culture its common to see a Arab in a dishdasha, rocking a fitted cap and there are some beautiful women here too, if any1 has ? on the state of Kuwait hit me up and I’ll let you know the real!!!

  i'm sorry that you had such an experiance in kuwait.. but you should know that not all kuwaitis are like the ones you mentioned in your post! have you met educated well speaking people here? maybe not but there are alot! try to socialize with the right people and you will have a good time! try to be a member in groups who do cultural and educational meetings, people who have book clubs, people who can TALK AND LISTEN! i'm a kuwaiti young man who spends most of his time reading, meeting talented and serious men and women who really know how to be good to themselves and their country!

  you can wear whatever you want, just dont wear a miniskirt or booty shorts.
  
  Dont worry about it, its not like they will take you out and beat you if you offend them. I havent seen a girl in shorts yet walking around the mall, but I know some do. Most girls wear pants, long sleeve shirts.
  
  Dont worry about it, dress normal like you would if you were going to meet your bf's parents for the first time.

  nightlife doesn't exist unless you know people. you can sit around and smoke siesha at a restaurant until about midnight, that is the extent of it.
  
  There are going to be no nightclubs, so dont expect any.
