fiance visa

• my Fiance and I are planning to get married in the uk, he is turkish living in turkey, and i am from the uk still living in the uk, we have to apply for a fiance visa which cost £500, what documents do we have to show to apply for this visa, and if he gets refused do we get the £500 refunded back to us?
