London is the financial centre

• Without doubt, London is where the majority of all financial activity is based. However, many of the retail financial organsations and the back-office operations have been moved out of the capital for cost reasons. For instance JP Morgan has a lot of their clerical work in Bournemouth on the South Coast. There are also financial organisations in various Northern cities in England, for instance the UK bit of the Canadian stockbrokerage TD Waterhouse is based in Leeds (or Manchester - one of the two).
